Ethos Group
Welcome to the Ethos Group!
The Ethos group was formed in September 2016 and took on the responsibilities of the former school council. The group is made up of two children from each year group from Year 1 to Year 6. They meet regularly to voice their opinions on a wide range of issues that arise throughout the school year: for example, the group might discuss ideas for fundraising, how to improve the school environment or that of the wider community or how pupils' well-being could be improved.
Our ethos group has forged strong links with the ethos groups at 3 other local church schools: Bishop Wilson (Burton), Christchurch (Ellesmere Port) and St. Oswald's (Mollington). During the past 12 months, the children from all 4 schools have come together on three occasions and taken part in the Ethos Group tour: this saw the children delivering the same collective worship in each of the 4 schools across the course of a morning. It was wonderful to see the children grow in confidence with each tour and to hear the message they gave to their fellow pupils and staff.
As well as taking part in the Ethos tour, the children at Capenhurst have been involved in leading collective worship within our own school setting.
On Friday 17th January 2020, our ethos group met with the Archdeacon of Chester, the Venerable Dr Michael Gilbertson (or Mike as he asked us to call him). He led collective worship at Holy Trinity Church with help from Canon Steve. After the service, four members of the ethos group took him on a tour of the school and all the children had the chance to ask him a few questions.
We would like to say a big thank you to Mr. Hodgson for painting our wonderful tree of values.
